Hello, my name is Kiana Benion and I am 16 years old and have lived in Medford all of my life. I attend North Medford High school as a junior and am enjoying it every second.
I am enrolled in many classes, above three which are my favorite I am so fortunate to take such as; Astronomy, Theatre Advanced, and AP US History. I contain an accumulative average of a 3.5 GPA since 7th grade year and, have been since, on the Honor Roll. I take my school work very seriously and plan to go to college after I graduate high school.
I plan to study Theatre Arts as my major and Political Science and Astronomy as my minors at University of Alabama, University of Oregon, or a university in Hawaii.
I have participated in only one sport throughout my high school career, swim team. This sport has not only taught me being supportive and working together as a team but also setting personal goals and the urge for me to try my absolute best. It has also taught me to be time efficient between balancing practice and homework for school which I believe is an important quality to acquire when preparing for college and your career.
I am also involved with a program known as FCA which stands for Fellowship Christian Athletes. I began attending towards the end of my sophomore year and since then it has made me a better, stronger person. Having my whole family being really strong with the Lord put me in a good position to seek and build my relationship with Christ for myself; and FCA seemed like the perfect place to start. Since then, I am now one of the many leaders at FCA and it has brought me a wonderful deal of responsibility in sharing the gospel of God with others.
I also plan to take part of the FAB club which is the fight against bullying. I recently had an assembly on this topic at my school and I felt that I should be a part of it. When the speaker announced the horrible and inexcusable things that a bully did to one student, who ended up being a school shooter, it broke my heart. I want to make sure that this sort of thing never happens at my school and to have the courage to stand up to the target being bullied. Now that I fully understand this topic I plan to take full action in every way I can to inform students about the horrors of bullying and how we can prevent it as a society.
Thank-you for taking the time to read my personal biography.
